CHESTNUT HILL, MA – Siena Women's Basketball continued a challenging non-conference slate by taking the court against a high-major team for the first time since 2017 on Sunday afternoon. The Saints (3-4) took an 88-59 loss at ACC foe Boston College (6-5) at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts during its first of two scheduled games against Power Five teams this year.
Coming off of consecutive 90-point performances at home, Boston College doubled up on the Saints to hold a 22-11 lead after a quarter of play, but the Saints came firing back in the second quarter, ending on a 6-0 run to pull within seven – 34-27 – at the half.
En-route to shooting 51.5 percent from the field and holding a 40-31 rebounding advantage. The Eagles recorded the first six points of the second half and ultimately held a 16-point lead through three quarters. Though the Saints were within single-digits of their opponents for the first two-and-a-half quarters of play, Boston College rolled to 3-0 all-time over the Green and Gold in the first meeting in 20 year by way of a 29-16 fourth quarter advantage.
Forced into 24 turnovers, Siena shot 39 percent from the field with sophomore
Teresa Seppala leading with 12 points for her third double-figure output of the season. Sophomore
Elisa Mevius tallied her second career double-double with ten points and 11 boards while adding five steals. Freshman
Alden Yergey went for 11 points for the second straight game to reach her career-best for the third time this year.
Teya Sidberry led five Boston College players in double-figures with 20 points and nine rebounds as the Eagles handed Siena its most points allowed so far this year.
Siena will look to turn things around when it begins conference play at home next weekend. The Saints will host MAAC foe Canisius at the UHY Center on Saturday, December 16 at 2 PM.
