Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Saints Silence Merrimack

Dobruna Continues Hot Stretch, Glinder Posts Sixth Shutout

Dren Dobruna collected his fourth & fifth assists in a two-game stretch, while Bennet Glinder recorded his sixth shutout of the season to help lead Siena Men's Soccer to a 3-0 road win over Merrimack on Saturday evening from North Andover, MA.

Siena (4-3-4, 2-0-1 MAAC) was fueled by Eric Svensson ('3), Ryan Lim ('55), and Mario Navarro Perez ('78) goals, while Dren Dobruna (2) and Cole Hellert (1) notched assists. With his pair of assists, Dobruna brings his season total to seven - a mark that puts him top-10 nationally, and top-10 all-time in program single-season history.

Glinder's shutout puts him in a tie for top-two nationally at six, while he comes within one of tying the single-season program record. He collected five saves en route to his fourth win of his sophomore campaign.

The Saints fired off 19 shots in the contest, led by Lee Mara's three, and seven others with two.

Merrimack (1-10, 0-3 MAAC) had seven different players combined for its seven total shots, while goalkeeper Nelton Semedo had five saves in the losing effort.

The Saints wasted no time jumping out front, as Dobruna found Svensson in the third minute for his first tally of the season. Siena held on to a 1-0 lead until halftime, while out-shooting Merrimack 7-1 (4-1 on-goal), and had a 5-2 edge on corners.

As part of a 12-shot second half for the Saints, Lim found the back of the net in the 55th minute for his first goal of the year, by way of Dobruna's second assist of the match, while Navarro Perez delivered the final stamp in the 78th with his third of the year. Glinder also saved each of Merrimack's four shots on target over the final 45 minutes of action.

Siena returns home next Saturday, Oct. 19, to host Iona at 3 p.m.
