LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women's Soccer will surge into the program's first postseason appearance in three years riding its longest winning streak since 2017. The dynamic duo of
Megan Stowell and
Catherine Rogers connected once more to propel the Saints to their fourth straight victory with a 1-0 triumph over I-87 rival Marist in the regular season finale at Hickey Field.
Siena (10-7-2, 7-3-2) has secured the No. 4 seed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships and will host fifth-seeded Manhattan in the MAAC Quarterfinals Sunday at 1 p.m. at Hickey Field.
The No. 2 and No. 3 scorers in the MAAC, respectively, Stowell and Rogers teamed up for the decisive tally as the Saints achieved their first double-digit win campaign since 2018. In the 28
th minute, Rogers played a thru-ball to Stowell who crossed the keeper and finished for her ninth goal of the season.
That would be all the offense needed in a dominant performance as Siena equaled the program single-season benchmark for MAAC wins (2004, 2016) with their seventh conference victory. The Saints held a commanding 20-9 advantage in shots and a 3-2 margin in corners. Rogers and
Annie Bagnall registered five shots apiece for Siena which is now unbeaten in 12 of the last 14 (10-2-2) matchups vs. their downstate rivals starting back in 2013.
Cate Burns made three saves to anchor a back line which registered its fourth shutout spanning the past six matches. Meanwhile Marist (3-11-3, 3-7-2) was blanked for the 11
th time this fall.
Maddy Catalanotti made six of her seven saves in the second half for the Red Foxes who suffered their third straight shutout defeat while being eliminated from postseason contention.
Siena now sets it sights squarely on the program's first MAAC Tournament appearance since 2021. The Saints shutout the Jaspers 3-0 in the regular season matchup between the squads two weeks ago in Loudonville.
