LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Men's Soccer is moving on in postseason play for the first time in eight years.

Siena (7-4-6) returns to the MAAC Semifinals to battle defending MAAC Tournament Champion and arch-nemesis Rider for the second straight season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Thursday night in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. The second-seeded Broncs survived No. 7 Sacred Heart 1-0 in double overtime of their postseason opener.
Â
Kicking off a program-record fifth consecutive postseason appearance, MAAC Rookie of the Year favorite
Dren Dobruna got the Saints on the board first in the 33
rd minute. Siena was awarded a free kick in a dangerous spot just outside the top of the 18, which the freshman fired into the top left corner.
Â
Manhattan (5-8-3), which held a 12-7 shot advantage and a 5-2 margin in corners, drew even in the 58
th minute when Sebastiano Musu finished a give-and-go with Felipe Arruda.
Â
But the Saints wouldn't be denied in front of the home faithful. With just 6:44 remaining in regulation,
Cole Hellert played
Joseph DiPreta out wide right. DiPreta sent across a low service which scraped off the head of the diving Navarro Perez and nestled just inside the far-left post.
Â
The victory preserved the first perfect home season (4-0-4) for Siena since 2014 while also serving as the program's milestone 300
th all-time win. Moreover, the Saints secured their first-ever outright postseason home victory (1-2-1), while also snapping a seven-match MAAC Tournament winless streak (0-4-3).
Â
Four of those seven setbacks spanning the previous seven years have come at the hands of Rider, as Siena will seek to break the Broncs curse and make more history in their quest to advance to the program's first-ever MAAC Championship Match. The Saints are 0-12-2 all-time in the MAAC Semifinals.
