LOUDONVILLE, NY – May the road rise up to meet you is an Irish blessing for safe travels.
The Siena Women's Basketball team will become familiar with aforementioned Irish sayings as the Saints get set to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime experience to travel on a 10-day tour of Ireland from Aug. 5-14.
"The Ireland trip is a great opportunity for our program to engage in experiential learning overseas while strengthening our love and trust for each other," said first-year Siena head women's basketball coach
Terry Primm. "I am excited to capture memories that will last a lifetime."
The foreign tour includes stops in Ireland's historic capital of Dublin, a Cliffs of Moher boat tour in Doolin, a bus ride through the scenic mountains and grasslands of Connemara Park, and visits to see the pristine coastline drive around the Ring of Kerry, the medieval stronghold of the Blarney Castle, the religious manuscript Book of Kells and the famous Guinness Storehouse brewing company as well as three exhibition games against Irish Women's Basketball teams.
The NCAA permits teams to take a foreign trip once every four academic years. The Siena Women's Basketball team last traveled abroad in the summer of 2017 when it visited Cuba after it had then just re-opened the border to the United States. Previously, the program also traveled to Denmark and Italy in August 2011.
