Volleyball thwarted by Idaho

Saints win opening set; let lead get away in fourth set

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Volleyball came out with their best set all season by hitting .476 as a team to take the opening set by a comfortable margin.

The Saints even led 22-10 in the fourth set, but could not finish it out as Siena took a 3-1 defeat to Idaho (25-13, 20-25, 17-25, 23-25) of the Big Sky Conference on Friday night at the UHY Center in the middle day of the three-day Siena Saints Invitational.

The Saints (1-7) trailed off from there in terms of hitting percentage, falling down to .167 in the second set, then .105 in the third and .129 in the fourth set.

Senior outside hitter Sara Wagner led the Saints once again in kills with a team-high 15 on a .257 hitting percentage to go along with six digs, an ace and a block.

The Bielsko-Biala, Poland native reached the 100-kill plateau for the season and has reeled off seven consecutive matches with double-digit kill performances.

Sophomore newcomer and Oregon State transfer Doga Diraz hit a new personal high with eight kills on a .500 hitting mark and two blocks.  Sina Toroslu added five kills, six blocks, five digs and two assists.  Claire Isaksen had team highs of 12 assists and eight digs.
