Saints Win Third Straight as Bagnall Bags Another Brace at Casey Stadium

Women’s Soccer Retains Capital Region Bragging Rights

ALBANY, NY – Annie Bagnall loves playing at Casey Stadium. Bagnall recorded her second straight two-goal performance in the facility as Siena Women's Soccer retained Capital Region bragging rights with a 2-0 triumph over crosstown rival UAlbany.

Bagnall, who also scored twice in the last meeting between the programs – a 2-1 Siena (5-4, 2-0) victory on Sept. 22, 2022 – has now registered two of her three collegiate multi-goal matches in the state capital.

The Saints peppered the UAlbany (1-7) goal with 21 first half shots and registered eight corners in the stanza before finally breaking through in the 37th minute. Sarah Harnett crossed in a corner from the left which Bagnall headed home to break the stalemate.

Bagnall added an insurance tally less than four minutes into the second half. She won a ball by the right sideline, dribbled in, and fired home a blast across into the top corner to propel Siena to a four-match unbeaten streak (2-0-2) in the rivalry.

Overall, the Saints out-shot the Great Danes 29-12 while attempting all nine corners on the evening. The 29 total shots were just two shy of the program single-match record.

Freshman Cate Burns made all three of her saves in the second half to register her third clean sheet for Siena, which wraps up the non-conference portion of its schedule having won three straight – matching the program's longest winning streak in four seasons – while outscoring the opposition by a 13-1 margin. The Saints have already surpassed their win total from all of last fall with more than half the season remaining.

Emily Dorfman stopped eight shots for UAlbany which has been outscored by a 22-3 margin during their now seven-match losing streak.

The road ahead gets more challenging for Siena, which will have an opportunity to test their mettle with a matchup at two-time defending MAAC Tournament Champion Quinnipiac Saturday at noon.
