Siena Men's Soccer (7-5-4, 6-1-3) secured a 2-0 victory over the Saint Peter's Peacocks (4-9-2, 2-6-1) to close out the 2025 regular season, marking Siena's first win in Jersey City since the 2009 season.
Bennet Glinder posted five saves and secured a shutout in the match, with the win marking the 22nd of the junior's career, putting him in sole possession of second all-time in program history.
Lucas Almeida scored once, and his goal proved to be the game-winner and team-leading eighth goal of the season, as well as his third over the last two matches.
Lee Mara netted his third goal of the season, and his second in as many matches.
Tomislav Vrdoljak added an assist, supporting the team's offensive efforts.
Martin Piedeleu finished with four shots, all of which were on goal.
The first half commenced with Siena's defense holding firm, as Glinder recorded multiple saves, including efforts against Adam Holt and Curtis Dunn. Siena gradually shifted the momentum, with Almeida and Mara taking shots that tested the Peacocks' goalkeeper, Moritz Conrad.
The pivotal moment came in the 44th minute when Almeida found the back of the net, giving Siena a 1-0 lead. As the half closed, Siena maintained this advantage, heading into the break ahead of the Peacocks.
The second half began with Siena extending their lead early when Mara scored in the 46th minute, assisted by Vrdoljak. Despite continued pressure from Siena, including shots by Piedeleu and Almeida that were saved by Conrad, the score remained unchanged.
Alejandro Perez Jorda also contributed with a shot that went wide in the 78th minute.
Siena's defense held firm, preventing any scoring attempts from the Peacocks. The half closed with Siena maintaining their advantage, securing a 2-0 victory at the final whistle.
With the win, the Saints secured the #2 seed in the upcoming Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship Tournament and secured a bye to the MAAC Semifinals. Siena will host a semifinal match on Thursday, Nov. 13, with opponent and time TBD.
