Siena Takes Three-Game Winning Streak into Saturday Night

Saints Welcome Sacred Heart to UHY Center

LOUDONVILLE, NY - Siena Women's Basketball (13-10, 10-4 MAAC) welcomes the Sacred Heart Pioneers (6-16, 2-11 MAAC) to the UHY Center at 6 p.m. Saturday night looking to capture a season-best fourth consecutive victory.

Joe Mixie and Brian Rubino have the call on ESPN+, while Joe Puccio and Steve Amedio are also courtside for the local broadcast on WVCR 88.3 FM. Tickets, international stream, live stats, and courtside X updates are all available by clicking on the corresponding links.

After becoming just the third player in program history to reach 200 career made three-point baskets, Ahniysha Jackson has her eyes set on putting her name atop the all-time leaderboard. With 201 made in her career, the graduate student needs five more to become the all-time program leader in shots made from beyond the arc.

Teresa Seppala extended her consecutive made free throw streak to 38 following a 6-6 showing from the line at Marist Thursday night. Notably, the MAAC Women's Basketball record for consecutive free throws made was set by Rebekah Hand of Marist, who drained 62 straight in 2018-19. Seppala's nationally-leading 97.3% from the line currently mirrors the NCAA Division I single-season record set by Haley Cavinder in 2022, who went 109-112 that season.

A pair of rookies tallied career-highs in Siena's win at Marist on Thursday with Aniya Hooker and Zyriah Price each dishing out five assists for new single-game bests. For Hooker, it was her sixth time over the last eight games in which she had three or more, while Price's five was just the fourth time she had multiple in a game this year - and the first time doing so with more than two. Hooker also had a new career-best with four steals in the win, doing so after going each of the last three previous games without one.

At 6-16 overall and 2-11 in MAAC play, the Pioneers enter Saturday having lost each of their last four games - including their most recent two against the MAAC's top-two teams in Fairfield (82-76) and Quinnipiac (71-47). Sacred Heart (SHU) boasts the MAAC's leading scorer in Ny'Ceara Pryor, who's averaging 18.9 per outing on 42.9% shooting. SHU ranks middle of the pack in the league averaging 58.6 PPG, while the defense ranks 11th in the conference surrendering 66.0 per outing.

Siena and SHU meet for the 12th time ever come Saturday evening, with the Saints holding a 6-5 edge in the young all-time series. Home court has proven to be a factor as Saints have won four of five games against the Pioneers in Loudonville since the series began in 2009-10, with the lone home loss coming on Nov. 11, 2011. Since then, Siena has claimed each of the last three games played on its home floor with the most recent being a 68-57 victory on Nov. 16, 2019. Siena won the most recent matchup, 79-59, on Jan. 16 in Fairfield, CT, highlighted by 40 combined points by Seppala (21) and Jackson (19).

Following Saturday, Siena readies for its trip to Western New York, starting with a Thursday night clash against Niagara at 6 p.m. on Feb. 20.
