FAIRFIELD, CT — Siena Women's Basketball dropped an 86–50 decision to Fairfield Monday afternoon at Leo D. Mahoney Arena.
The Stags, who received two votes in the latest AP Top 25 Poll, improved to 15–3 overall and 9–0 in MAAC play. Siena moved to 7–11 overall and 5–4 in conference action.
Francesca Schiro led the Saints with 17 points, going 13-for-15 from the free-throw line while adding two steals.
Valencia Fontenelle-Posson recorded nine points, eight rebounds, and two steals, tying a season high on the glass for the third time this year.
Garrisen Freeman pulled down four rebounds and matched the team high with two steals.
Siena struggled to find a rhythm early, missing several shots and committing turnovers as Fairfield built a 23–7 lead after one quarter. The Stags extended the margin in the second quarter behind efficient shooting and defensive pressure, taking a 51–17 lead into halftime.
The Saints were unable to close the gap in the third as Fairfield continued to control the tempo, leading 72–29 after three. Siena showed resilience in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Stags 21–14 behind strong defensive rebounding and trips to the free-throw line, but the deficit proved too large.
Siena returns to action Thursday, Jan. 22, when it travels to Marist for a matchup at McCann Arena in Poughkeepsie.
