Siena Water Polo secured its first win of the 2026 season with a thrilling 7-6 win over Chapman in its final game of the Bruno Classic in Cambridge, MA. The win over Chapman allowed the Saints to split their final two matches at the tournament following a 22-5 loss to #23 Marist earlier in the day in Providence, RI.

Rebecca Currie paced Siena with a goal and an assist while also winning two sprints.
Lucia Fernandez Caballero scored once on four shots, and
Catherine Williamson added a goal on three attempts. Goalkeeper
Savana Slaughter made five saves in her appearance.

Marist opened the scoring early in the first quarter to set the tone. Siena answered with a penalty goal from Currie, but Marist quickly responded to regain control. Williamson added a goal to keep Siena within reach, though Marist held a 4-2 lead after one quarter.

The Red Foxes pulled away in the second quarter, using a string of goals, including a penalty shot, to extend their lead to 8-4 at halftime. Marist continued to build momentum in the third quarter, scoring six unanswered goals to take a 14-4 advantage.

In the final quarter, Marist added five more goals to seal the win. Siena closed the scoring with a late goal from
Ava Vesey, as Marist secured the 22-5 victory.

Catherine Williamson led Siena with four goals on four shots.
Quincy Frommelt added two goals, including the game-winner, while
Rebecca Currie won four sprints to give the Saints key early possessions.
Jade Arnold also contributed with two sprint wins.

Chapman scored first in the opening quarter, but Siena responded with three straight goals. Williamson scored twice, once at even strength and once on the power play, and Currie added a goal to give the Saints a 3-1 lead.

Williamson continued her strong performance with another goal in the second quarter, though Chapman kept the game close. After Chapman scored in the third, Williamson answered with her fourth goal to maintain Siena's lead.

Chapman surged in the fourth quarter with three goals, including a penalty shot, to briefly take a 6-5 advantage. Frommelt answered with two goals, including a penalty shot with 12 seconds left, to secure the 7-6 win for Siena.

The Saints return to action Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1:30 p.m. against Indiana at DeNunzio Pool in Princeton, N.J.
