Rider controlled the glass throughout the night, outrebounding the Saints 53–46 — the most Siena has allowed this season — and snapped a six-game losing streak in the series. The Broncs earned their first MAAC victory of the season to improve to 3–13 (1–5), while Siena slipped to 6–8 (4–1) in conference play.
Genevive Wedemeyer led Siena with 14 points and a career-high eight rebounds.
Nicole Melious added 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting while dishing out three assists.
Kaiya Rain Tucker made her presence felt defensively with two blocks and two steals to go along with six rebounds, and
Caydence Hadley shared team-high rebounding honors with eight boards.
The Saints struggled offensively in the opening quarter, shooting just 4-for-17 from the field as Rider took a 16–12 lead. Siena found a spark in the second quarter with three-pointers from Wedemeyer and
Dallas Pierce to briefly move in front, but Rider closed the half on a 4–0 run to carry a 24–23 advantage into the break.
Momentum swung back and forth in the third quarter, highlighted by a 10–0 Siena run that gave the Saints a five-point edge. Rider answered once again, reclaiming a 43–40 lead entering the fourth. Siena surged ahead midway through the final quarter, building a seven-point cushion, but the Broncs responded out of a timeout and closed the game on an 11–2 run to secure the road win.
Siena remains home to host Merrimack at the UHY Center on Saturday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m.
