Siena Water Polo faced stiff competition at the Princeton Invitational, dropping two games over the weekend. The Saints fell to No. 15 Princeton, 12-8, on Sunday morning before falling to No. 21 Brown, 19-5, later in the day in Princeton, NJ.

#15 Princeton 12, Siena 8
Siena capitalized on the power play with four goals but could not keep pace with Princeton's offense. The Saints moved to 1-4 on the season, while the Tigers remained unbeaten at 5-0.

Catherine Williamson led Siena with three goals on three shots and added four sprint wins.
Rebecca Currie and
Quincy Frommelt each scored twice.

Princeton struck first in the opening quarter, but Siena answered quickly as Frommelt tied the game and Williamson briefly put the Saints ahead. The Tigers responded with three straight goals to take a 4-2 lead after one. Siena closed the gap in the second quarter behind two goals from Currie, but Princeton held a 7-6 edge at halftime.

In the third quarter, Princeton extended its lead with two goals, while Frommelt converted a penalty shot to keep Siena within reach at 9-7. Williamson added a goal in the fourth, but Princeton pulled away with three late scores to secure the 12-8 win.

#21 Brown 19, Siena 5
Siena struggled to slow Brown's attack in the afternoon matchup, falling 19-5 to drop to 1-5 on the season. Brown improved to 5-2.

Rebecca Currie scored twice on two shots, while
Keygan Monahan added two goals on two attempts. Williamson also found the net on her lone shot.

Brown opened the game with four straight goals to build an early 4-0 lead. Siena responded with a Currie goal but trailed 5-2 after the first quarter. The Bears continued to build their advantage in the second quarter, entering halftime with an 8-3 lead. Brown extended the margin in the third quarter and closed the game with a strong fourth, pulling away for the 19-5 victory.

Siena returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 14, facing Bucknell at 11:20 a.m. at Kinney Natatorium in Lewisburg, PA.
