Saints Close Out Regular Season with I-87 Rivalry

Siena to Honor Graduating Members Pregame

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women's Basketball closes out the regular season Saturday with a Senior Day edition of the I-87 rivalry as the Marist Red Foxes make the trip to Loudonville. Tipoff from the UHY Center is set for 2 p.m.

The Saints will honor graduating members Garrisen Freeman and Jamariah Turner, along with longtime manager Tagecia "Judii" Nelson, in a pregame ceremony scheduled for 1:24 p.m.

Emmanuel Berbari, Joe Lemery, and Steve Jones will have the call on ESPN+, while Joe Puccio and Steve Amedio will provide the local radio broadcast on WVCR 88.3 FM. Fans can access tickets, live stats, and courtside X updates via the corresponding links.

Entering Saturday's slate, Siena is part of a three-way tie for fifth place at 10-9 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings alongside Mount St. Mary's and Sacred Heart. Multiple scenarios will determine the Saints' seeding for the MAAC Championships, with outcomes dependent upon the conclusion of Mount St. Mary's vs. Rider, Sacred Heart at Fairfield, and Saint Peter's at Manhattan games. Manhattan enters the day at 9-10 in league play and could potentially finish 10-10 alongside the three aforementioned teams. A top-six finish would allow Siena to avoid the MAAC First Round games on Thursday, March 5.

Siena snapped a four-game skid Thursday with a 67-55 road victory at Rider. The Saints dominated the glass, posting a season-high 56 rebounds — their most since securing 56 rebounds on Feb. 4, 2023, and the program's highest total since recording 63 against Navy on Nov. 27, 2015. The win marked Siena's first victory of the season when trailing at halftime and its largest comeback of the year, overcoming a nine-point deficit.

The rebounding effort was fueled by Kaiya Rain Tucker, who pulled down a career-high 17 boards while adding 13 points to secure her fourth double-double of the season. The freshman recorded her sixth double-figure rebounding performance of the year — and fourth in the last five games. Now ranked among the league's top five at 7.9 rebounds per game, Tucker has averaged 11.9 boards over her last eight contests.

Caydence Hadley contributed to the effort by tying a career high with nine rebounds and scoring 10 points, finishing one rebound shy of her first career double-double. Valencia Fontenelle-Posson added a team-high 15 points, matching her season high and recording the 21st double-digit scoring performance of her career.

Marist enters Saturday at 11-18 overall and 8-11 in league play, currently sitting in eighth place and having already secured a MAAC Championships berth. The Red Foxes are coming off a 48-45 road win at Saint Peter's, improving to 3-9 away from McCann Arena and snapping an eight-game road losing streak dating back to Dec. 13 at Binghamton. Led by two-time MAAC Rookie of the Week Justine Henrey (12.4 PPG) and MAAC Co-Player of the Week honoree Lexie Tarul (12.2 PPG), Marist ranks seventh in the conference in scoring at 58.6 points per game. The Red Foxes allow 66.2 points per contest overall — the third-most in the league — but have limited conference opponents to 62.5 per game.

Saturday marks the 84th meeting between the Saints and Red Foxes, with Marist holding a 43-40 edge in the all-time series. Siena has won four straight home meetings and has not fallen to Marist in Loudonville since Feb. 14, 2021. During that stretch, the Saints have won by an average margin of 12 points, with their closest victory a seven-point decision on Jan. 7, 2023. Marist claimed the first matchup this season, 75-72, on Jan. 22 in Poughkeepsie.

Following the regular-season finale, Siena will turn its attention to the MAAC Tournament, set for March 5-9 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The Saints' opponent and game time will be determined upon the conclusion of Saturday's conference action.
