Siena Softball (7-8, 1-2) used strong pitching and timely hitting to sweep Wagner in a Wednesday MAAC doubleheader at Wagner Softball Field in Staten Island, NY, taking game one 2-0 before closing out a 2-1 win in the nightcap.

Behind a dominant outing from
Gracie Goewey, Siena set the tone early. The sophomore right-hander tossed a complete-game shutout, scattering five hits while striking out five and walking none over 94 pitches to earn her second win of the season.

After a scoreless start,
Emma Petersen broke through in the third inning with a solo home run to left, giving the Saints a 1-0 edge. Siena added an insurance run in the seventh, manufacturing it with small ball—
Ella Milante singled, advanced on a sacrifice bunt and wild pitch, and scored on
Megan Klein's RBI single. Milante and Klein each recorded two hits as Siena made the most of its opportunities in a tightly played opener.

The Saints carried that momentum into game two, leaning again on their pitching staff in another close contest.
Violet Marta delivered six strong innings, allowing one run on six hits while striking out four and walking just one to improve to 6-5. Goewey returned in relief and shut the door in the seventh, earning the save.

Siena broke a scoreless tie in the fourth when Goewey lifted a sacrifice fly to plate the game's first run. Wagner answered in the sixth to even the score, but Siena responded immediately. In the seventh,
Chloe Cummings came through with an RBI single to put the Saints back in front for good.

Cummings led the offense with two hits and an RBI, while
Sarah Miller added two hits, including a double, as Siena outhit Wagner 8-6.
