In the regular season finale, Siena Water Polo (6-12, 3-5 MAAC) dropped an 11-8 decision to La Salle (14-6, 5-3 MAAC) on Sunday at the VMI Aquatic Center. A late push from the Saints wasn't enough to erase an early deficit built by the Explorers.
Rebecca Currie paced Siena offensively with a hat trick, converting three of her four shot attempts.
Parker Thomas added a pair of goals on four shots, while
Jade Arnold chipped in a goal and secured a sprint win.
Quincy Frommelt made the most of her lone opportunity, finding the back of the cage despite drawing three exclusions.
La Salle set the tone early, striking first behind Samara Eschleman before Currie answered with a penalty goal to even the score at 1-1. From there, the Explorers seized control. Eschleman added another, while Martina Bonet Saez and Nadya Azzopardi helped extend the lead to 4-1 after one quarter.
The Explorers continued their surge in the second, with Eschleman completing a four-goal first half to push the advantage to 6-1 at the break.
Siena showed resilience coming out of halftime, putting together its strongest stretch in the third quarter to chip away at the deficit. The Saints continued to battle in the fourth, highlighted by two more goals from Currie, but La Salle maintained enough separation to close out the 11-8 result.
Despite outshooting the Explorers 19-15, Siena was unable to match La Salle's efficiency, as the Explorers capitalized on their chances to secure the win.
