Women’s Soccer Blanks New Hampshire

Rogers scores on feed from Swyers; Back Line Defense & Burns Hold Up

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Junior midfielder Anna Swyers went wide down the sideline, created enough space against her defender and then sent a lengthy cross to set up Catherine Rogers for the header that proved to be the difference in Siena Women Soccer's 1-0 victory over New Hampshire on Sunday at Hickey Field.

The goal came in the 12th minute to give Siena its' first victory over New Hampshire since August of 2015 to break the Wildcats' five-match unbeaten streak in the head-to-head match up (0-3-2) including last season's 0-0 draw between the teams in Durham, NH.  Siena now leads the all-time series 5-3-2.

Rogers extended her consecutive point streak to seven straight matches with at least one point recorded dating back to Oct. 15, 2025.

The Webster, NY native also scored her third career winning goal after also notching them versus Merrimack in 2025 and one at Bryant in August of 2024.

The Saints (1-1-0) bounced back with a resounding defensive effort, recording a shutout with energized back line play from Grace Crowley, Lindsey Harrington and Hayden Valentine while goalkeeper Cate Burns recorded six saves.

The Wildcats fell to 0-1-1.

Despite a few offside calls and missed opportunities, Siena maintained its offensive pressure with multiple shots on goal. Briana Neary led the team with four shots, including two on target while Rogers finished with two shots on goal.

New Hampshire attempted to respond with several corner kicks and shots, but Burns made key saves to preserve the lead.

Siena's second half began with a strong defensive effort, highlighted by Burns' crucial stop against Amber Clarke in the 77th minute. Siena's attack generated several opportunities, with Neary and Noelle Gorham both taking notable shots.

Neary's attempt at the 81st minute was saved by New Hampshire goalkeeper Sonja Zeepvat.

Despite the aggressive offense and solid defense, neither team managed to alter the scoreline during the half. Siena held an 11-9 shots advantage, however UNH put six on target while the Saints had four on target.

Looking ahead, Siena will host UAlbany (0-1) on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 5 p.m. at Hickey Field in Loudonville.

The Great Danes dropped their opener 5-1 versus Boston University on Sunday.
