Sunday morning's sixty-third annual commencement ceremony marked the conclusion of the 2002-2003 academic year, as well as the end of the athletic seasons. Many Siena student-athletes were recognized at the ceremony for their academic performance as well as their participation in the College's various honor societies.
Megan Baumgart of the women's cross country team and Maureen Condon of the women's lacrosse squad were among the first to receive their diploma's as members of Alpha Kappa Alpha-the Siena College Honor Society. Baumgart was also presented with the James Patrick Furlong, M.D. Award. Teammate Bonnie Brisnehan, who graduated magna cum laude, was presented with the Siena ROTC Leadership Award and was among those listed on the Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.
Other student-athletes on the Who's Who list included field hockey player Terri Cordes, women's swimmer Olga Kandarouva, water polo player Diane Lowe and women's soccer player Allyson Spencer. Spencer and Lowe were also recognized for certificates in international studies, which required studies in business and a foreign language. Kandarouva and Lowe were members of the College's 21st Century Leaders Society. Amy Prumo of the field hockey team and Spencer were awarded certificates for their completion of the teacher education program.
