March 31, 2004
The academic integrity subcommitee met on March 31, 2004, during free period
in Jim Serbalik's office.
Members Present: Liza Nevarez, Ken Paulli, Jim Serbalik, Len Putnick
1. The members of the committee discussed who should be added to the
subcommittee. Since we had no representative from the business division, we
agreed to ask Cheryl Buff to serve on the subcommittee. (She has since
agreed.) We also thought we should have two students, one from a sport of
emphasis and one from a minor sport. (Since the meeting Michelle Blot has
agreed to serve.) John D'Argenio will be contacted for suggestions for an
additional student athlete.
2. The members of the committee all thought that the summer would be a good
time to get the bulk of the work completed. With that in mind, all
additional members should be available for some meetings in the summer time.
3. We discussed the reporting of graduation rates and admission statistics.
It was not clear whether the three consecutive years applied to both sets of
data. That is could we use one set of three years for graduation rates and
another set of three for admissions data. Clarification will be saught from
the NCAA. (See copy of response below)
4. We will schedule our next meeting after final examinations and decide who
we have to interview and where we get can the information needed for the
report.
