A record 73 Siena College student-athletes were recognized on the 2002-2003 MAAC Honor Roll according to a release sent out by the conference office this afternoon. The total smashed the previous high of 60 student-athletes set last year.
"It's testament to the hard work Siena student-athletes put into their studies that the College is so well represented on this list," Athletic Academic Advisor Michelle Bronner said. "Siena prides itself in recruiting and developing the complete individual and the student-athletes have led the way recently in this regard."
To be eligible for the MAAC Honor Roll, an athlete must hold a 3.20 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and be in his or her second year of athletic eligibility. The Honor Roll is open to both full-time and associate members of the MAAC, with athletes represented in each of the 25 sports the conference sponsors.
Women's cross country led the way with 12 student-athletes recognized, while the women's soccer team checked in with 10 of its eligible 22 student-athletes on the list.
