Scott Knapp Named Corporate Sales Manager

July 12, 2004

Scott Knapp '01 has been hired as corporate sales manager for Siena College Athletics, it was announced today by Athletic Director John D'Argenio. Knapp fills the void left vacant following the promotion of Anthony Marino '97 to director of marketing at Pepsi Arena.

"We are excited to welcome Scott back to the Siena athletic family," D'Argenio said. "His inside knowledge of the College, and our department in particular, should allow for a smooth transition. Scott has a strong passion for Siena athletics, one we are excited to have him share with our friends in the community."

Knapp's duties include marketing a program he helped build, as he is one of Siena basketball's most successful alumni. The Sherrill, N.Y. native is the school's all-time leader in three-point field goals made with 293. He is also the program's all-time leader in free-throw percentage (89.6%) and is ninth on the scoring charts with 1,381 career points.

The sharpshooter is the only Siena player to earn MAAC Rookie of the Year honors (1998) after averaging 12.3 points and shooting 90% from the free throw line as a freshman. He was twice named to the MAAC Tournament Team (1998, 1999) and was a Preseason and Postseason Second Team All-Conference pick as a senior (2001). Knapp helped Siena advance to its first NCAA Tournament in a decade in 1999 and to the Postseason NIT in 2000.

After graduating from Siena, Knapp played one season of professional basketball for the Rockford (Ill.) Lightning in 2001-2002 where he was an All-Rookie Team Honorable Mention selection. In October of 2002 he accepted a job as a loan officer with Home Funding Finders in Latham, where he remained until accepting his current post at Siena.

Knapp is responsible for marketing and managing the partnership accounts between local and national sponsors and the Siena athletic department. He also oversees the game operations for Siena basketball at Pepsi Arena. His office is located within the Marcelle Athletic Complex at Siena.

"It's a dream come true to return to Siena," Knapp said. "I had a wonderful experience here as a student athlete, and I look forward to the challenges associated with marketing our 18 Division I sports."

Knapp and his wife Jennifer were married in May and reside in Niskayuna, N.Y.
