LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.-- The Siena College athletic department announced the appointment of Michelle Bronner to the position of athletic academic advisor today. Bronner brings with her a country-spanning background filled with both athletic and academic experiences.
For the past two years, Bronner has worked with student-athletes at the University of Tennessee in the new Thornton Academic and Student Center. In that capacity, she tutored students in English, history and political science and became acquainted with the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program, among other duties. Bronner also worked as a graduate teaching assistant in the physical education department and volunteered her time as an assistant softball coach while in Knoxville.
"We are excited to have someone with Michelle's qualifications take over such an important position," Director of Athletics John D'Argenio noted. "Our student-athletes have grown to depend on the academic advising office for direction and study tips, and we are confident that Michelle will provide the capable guidance our current student-athletes require."
Prior to her move to the University at Tennessee, Bronner was a high school social studies teacher in Fountain, Colo. Bronner developed curriculum for and taught geography, world history, civics and sociology to students in grades 9-12. She also was the head coach for the varsity volleyball and softball teams, and assisted with the track and basketball squads. Bronner taught social studies, science and math in the same school district from 1992 until her move to the high school in 1994.
A 1992 graduate of the State University of New York at New Paltz, Bronner received a bachelor's of arts degree in secondary education. She began her academic career at the United States Military Academy at West Point and is currently working on completing her master's degree in human performance and exercise science from the University of Tennessee.
