New York Knickerbockers President and General
Manager Scott Layden announced today that Jamie
Mathews, former assistant athletic director for development at Siena, has been named director, player administration.
"We are excited with the new additions to the organization's front office,"
Layden said following Mathews appointment which coincided with two other front office hirings. "Their experience across the basketball world will prove
invaluable in keeping the New York Knicks a first-class franchise."
As Director, Player Administration, Jamie Mathews will work closely with
Layden and Assistant General Manager Jeff Nix in a myriad of administrative
duties ranging from preparation of the NBA Draft, team participation in
summer leagues and pro and college scouting. Prior to his arrival in New
York, the Kingston, NY-native spent two years as assistant athletic director
for development at Siena College and four years at USA Basketball, most
recently as assistant director of men's programs.
Among other tasks, Mathews oversaw Saints Alive! while working at Siena helping raise over half a million dollars for the direct benefit of the College's student-athletes.
