LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena College athletic department released its fall recipients of the Leo Dufort Student-Athlete of the Month Award. Senior volleyball player Sarah Watkins (Canastota, N.Y./Canastota) and senior soccer player Patrick Wren (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) were the September recipients, while women's soccer senior standout Megan Umsatter (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) and football senior Ryan Hungershafer (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) took home the October honor.

"Each of these four student-athletes has enjoyed success both individually and team-wise and it's that kind of competitive attitude that shows in their schoolwork as well," noted Director of Athletics, John D'Argenio. "Siena is very fortunate to have such outstanding student-athletes."

Watkins, a setter on the 13-6 volleyball team, boasts a 3.36 GPA in history. Last night, she become the most productive setter in school history, surpassing former Siena great Jess Ladieu '98 with her 2,742 career assist. This season she has set the stage for Siena's undefeated start in league play, and earlier was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Stony Brook Invitational after helping the Saints to a championship in the four-team event.

Wren, a two-time all-MAAC Academic selection is widely regarded as one of the League's top defenders. He has started each of Siena's 12 games this season, helping the Saints to a 3-2 record in the MAAC. In addition to his defensive prowess, he also registered a goal earlier this season. Wren, a finance major, is coming off a semester in which he registered a 3.89 GPA. He carries a 3.58 cumulative mark.

Umstatter is the only senior on Siena's much-improved women's soccer team. Umstatter has played in all 13 games this season, scoring one goal. She was a major contributor to the team's recent seven-game winning streak. A marketing/management major, Umstatter holds a 2.96 GPA.

Another local product, Hungershafer has been a major contributor to Siena's football team so far this year. The 5-9 receiver currently leads the team in receptions with 15. In the team's lone win over previously undefeated LaSalle, Hungershafer had a breakout game, including two fourth quarter touchdown receptions.
