Former Siena Softball standout Isabelle DeChiaro joined Casey Bump's staff as a volunteer assistant coach in January 2022.
“I am very excited to add Izzy to our staff,” Bump said upon DeChiaro's appointment. “Not only does she have the skills and knowledge to teach the game, but she is also very familiar with the team, school, and conference. She understands and embraces our culture and Siena’s expectations for our student athletes. She is a valuable addition to our program.”
DeChiaro returned to Loudonville after wrapping up a successful four-year playing career from 2017-21. A two-year team captain for the Saints, the Cohoes, New York native appeared in 114 career games and finished her career ranked inside the program’s career top-10 in four offensive categories, including batting average (.351, sixth), on-base percentage (.366, third), slugging percentage (.495, tenth), and walks drawn (61, fifth). She also tied the single-game program record for doubles in a game (three) during her junior season.
A three-time Second Team All-MAAC selection, DeChiaro earned Second Team honors as both an outfielder and a utility in 2021, and went on to receive Great Lakes Region Third Team All-Region honors. A standout in the classroom, she was a two-time NFCA Scholar All-America selection and a three-time member of the MAAC All-Academic Team.
DeChiaro earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in Social Work from Siena in 2021, and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree at Adelphi University.
