Jayla Scaife

Jayla Scaife comes to Loudonville directly from Athens, Greece where she played overseas after her graduation from the University of Dayton in the Spring of 2020. The Muncie, Indiana native makes her coaching debut with the Saints in 2021-22.

In just one season in 2021-22, Scaife helped guide the Saints to their most wins (10) in the MAAC since 2017-18 when they won 11 games. Under her guidance, the Saints finished with a 10-10 league record, giving them a fifth place finish after being picked ninth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll. With her on staff, the the Green and Gold received an All-MAAC selection in fifth-year Rayshel Brown, as well as an All-Rookie Team honoree.
 
Scaife signed a professional contract with AO Sporting Athens in Greece where she saw limited time on the court due to COVID. Prior to Greece, she would finish as a highly decorated player at the University of Dayton.
 
While with the Flyers, Scaife was a part of three NCAA Tournament appearances (2016-17, 2017-18, 2019-20), including two Atlantic 10 Championship squads (2016-17, 2019-20), and three A-10 Regular Season Championships (2016-17, 2017-18, 2019-20). She would score 1,476 career points en route to earning both A-10 Tournament MVP, A-10 All-Defensive Team, and A-10 First Team honors in 2020.
 
Scaife earned an all-league selection in each of her four years, garnering A-10 First Team honors twice (2019, 2020), Second Team (2018), and All-Rookie Team (2017). She would also go on to earn three Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors in her four years, a College Sports Madness Player of the Week, and the University of Dayton Women’s Basketball Most Improved Player award in 2018.
 
In 2019, Scaife earned an invite to the USA Basketball Pan-American Games trials, and would be named Senior CLASS Award Top 30 candidate in 2020.
 
In high school, Scaife was a McDonald’s All-American nominee, and a 2016 Indiana State All-Star. She left Muncie Central as the all-time leader in points and rebounds.
