Danny Shannon was named an assistant coach for the Siena Women's Soccer program in July 2026.

“I’m excited to welcome Danny to our Siena Women’s Soccer family,” said head coach Steve Karbowski upon the appointment of Shannon. “Danny has the desire to coach, and the thoughtful mentality to be a great asset towards the development of the team. He has the passion to make strong contributions in all aspects of our program.”

Shannon has spent the past year since his undergraduate graduation working myriad roles within the local soccer community. He has served as a goalkeeper coach with the semi-professional New York Shockers of the National Premier Soccer League and United Premier Soccer League, as well as with Beestera Soccer. This past spring, Shannon served as a volunteer goalkeeper coach at his alma mater, UAlbany.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Siena Women’s Soccer program,” said Shannon upon his hiring. “Having played collegiately in the Capital Region, I’ve become familiar with the program’s proud history and strong tradition of success, and I’m excited to be able to contribute towards the future growth of Siena Women’s Soccer.”

A 2025 graduate of the University at Albany with his BA in Sociology and with a minor in Psychology, Shannon was a four-year member of the Great Danes men’s soccer program, appearing in 15 career matches in goal. The Harlem, New York native was named the America East Defender of the Week on Sept. 12, 2022. Shannon wrapped up his collegiate career with a graduate season at Binghamton last fall, starting eight matches while posting a 1.38 goals against average.
