Greg Dashnaw

Greg Dashnaw enters his milestone 40th season as the head athletic trainer at Siena College in 2022-23. He is responsible for the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries to Siena's athletes. Dashnaw oversees Siena's 21 intercollegiate athletic teams and approximately 350 athletes.

He has helped the Albany Patroons (Continental Basketball Association) and Albany Capitals (American Soccer League) in the training and treatment of their athletes. He also served on the medical support staff at the Empire State Games from 1980-1990. Dashnaw also served as a trainer for the Albany Firebirds of the Arena Football League from 1991-1999. He was a member of the 1999 Arena Bowl Champion team.

During the summer, Dashnaw serves as the head athletic trainer for the Siena sports camps. The camps, which run for eight weeks, attract over 2,000 campers.

Dashnaw has been recognized three times by Siena's student-athletes with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee award. This distinction is presented to the person, who in the opinion of the student-athletes has had the most positive impact on their athletic life at Siena.

During the summer of 2005, Dashnaw was invited by the MAAC to serve as head trainer of the league's all-star team which toured China.

A Harrisville, N.Y. native, Dashnaw was the first, and is a two-time, recipient of the Howard J. Tucker Award for outstanding contribution to Siena basketball. He received an undergraduate degree from Plattsburgh State in 1981. At Plattsburgh, he served as student trainer for varsity sports. From Plattsburgh, Dashnaw went to Albany State (N.Y.) where he worked toward a master's degree while serving as assistant trainer. A member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Dashnaw resides in Albany.
