2016-17:
- MAAC Second Team Fifth Singles
- Recorded an 9-1 dual play record, with a 5-1 league record
- She was undefeated at singles two, three and four earning a 1-0 record at each
- Played just two doubles matches earning a 1-1 record
2015-16:
- 2016 MAAC All-Academic Team Selection
- Went an even 9-9 in singles play
- Recorded a perfect 2-0 mark at the top singles spot
- Held a 7-6 record in doubles play
- Registered a 4-2 doubles mark in conference play
2014-15:
- Named MAAC Rookie of the Year
- Recorded 13 singles victories during her freshman campaign, the most of any wins on the team
- Went 5-1 in MAAC singles play
- Saw time at all three doubles positions
- Held an overall doubles record of 10-9, including 4-2 in conference play

- Won multiple tournaments including the 69th Annual Ventura Junior Tournament (Winner - 18s), 2013 Jackie Tatum Tennis Tournament Classic (Winner - 18s), 2013 ITA Summer College Circuit La Verne (Doubles Finalist) and 2013 Oxnard Tennis Center Junior Open Tournament (Winner - 18s)
PERSONAL/COMMUNITY:
- Native of Tokyo, Japan
- Daughter of Takeshi and Ryoko Sakai
- Chose Siena because of its athletic and academic programs.
GETTING TO KNOW RINA:
Nickname: I don't really have nickname. One of my coaches in the tennis academy called me Rinisky, though
One thing I wish people knew about me, but don't is: I always tell people that I'm from Tokyo, but actually I'm not. I'm from Kanagawa which is adjacent to Tokyo. I do this because it sounds more familiar to many people.
Why did you choose Siena? When I started looking for schools, I looked up schools in East coast since I lived in California for three years and wanted something new. I was looking for school that is Division I and has good academics. Siena was the one I was looking for. I also like that Siena is a private school and a small community.
If I didn't play tennis, I would: I would play another sport such as badminton maybe or study really hard
My favorite TV show is: I don't watch TV that much
My favorite pro sports team is: I like watching any kind of sports
My favorite book: Biographies by any sports players

If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would go to (why): France because I've been there once with my parents and I really enjoyed everything there, especially the baguette was so delicious.

If I could meet anyone in the world, it would be: Deceased grandfather
