Siena College appointed Olivia Ortega as the Assistant Athletic Director / Business for the Saints Athletics Administration on May 19, 2025.  

Ortega manages all business affairs functions for the department including purchasing, accounts payables and credit card reconciliations; prepares game contracts and coordinates payment to officials and game staff for the department and provides administrative support to the Vice President/Director of Athletics.

Previously, Ortega served as the administrative manager for the University at Albany’s College of Nanotechnology, supporting the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and Environmental and Sustainable Engineering (ESE). 

In this role, she managed department accounts, budgets, personnel records and ensured compliance with institutional policies and federal regulations. 

Additional duties included overseeing the secure handling of confidential faculty and student data, ensured adherence to FERPA; coordinating academic resources and scheduling and assisting with onboarding and record management for departmental hires using University systems. 

Prior to that position, Ortega worked as an FMLA Leave Specialist in Human Resources for Paychex, as well as a benefits specialist for 401K plans in the role of Senior Associate Service Specialist. 

Ortega earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in international business and a minor in economics and finance from American International College, where she also competed as a Division II softball student-athlete. 

She’s bilingual in Spanish and was a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee Member from 2021 through 2024. 

Ortega was also the recipient of the Inclusivity & Engagement Award Winner in 2022 for spearheading the recruitment subcommittee of the DEI initiative that promoted inclusive hiring practices and engaged underrepresented candidates through outreach at school and community locations. 

She resides in Watervliet with her partner Aaron, and their two dogs, Koda and Simba.
