LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Paul Ciovacco scored two first-half goals to lead Siena past Central Connecticut 2-1 Tuesday afternoon. The Saints (2-6-1, 1-2 MAAC) win snapped a five-game losing streak. The Blue Devils fell to 3-6 and 0-3 in the NEC.
Ciovacco (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) started the scoring just under five minutes into the game when he headed in a cross from Kevin Purcell (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland). The junior struck again in the 34th minute, beating Blue Devil goalie Jeff Brunetti one-on-one.
Ciovacco leads the Saints in scoring with three goals and three assists. With two goals today, Ciovacco moves into sole possession of tenth place on the school's all-time scoring list with 31 points.
Robert Magarino scored the lone goal for the visitors midway through the second half.
Jonathan Hicks (Merrick, N.Y./Chaminade) made four saves in the victory for the Saints. Siena outshot the Blue Devils 11-7.
The Saints open a three-game road trip at Manhattan on Thursday.
