Siena Stops Skid With MAAC Win Over Niagara

ALBANY, N.Y. - Dwayne Archbold scored a career-high 28 points and the Saints erupted for 45 second half points to earn a critical 77-65 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game played in front of 5,844 fans at Pepsi Arena Saturday evening. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Saints.

Eight players scored in the first half for Siena (3-7/1-1 MAAC) as the Saints shot 48% from the field and held a 32-24 lead at the break.

Siena carried that momentum into the second half, scoring 21 of the half's first 30 points en route to an insurmountable 53-33 advantage. Archbold made many key shots over the stretch, including the backbreaking three that stretched the lead to 20.

Niagara (3-4/1-1 MAAC) carved into the Siena lead, closing to within single digits on a Tremmell Darden jumper with just over five minutes remaining. Darden, who scored 14 of his 17 points after the break, led the Purple Eagles in scoring.

Niagara closed to within four on a 17-foot jumper from the top-of-the-key by Daryl Greene with three minutes left on the clock. Siena responded with seven consecutive points to put the game away. The Saints were solid from the free throw line converting 89% (23-of-26) of their attempts on the night and several key shots down the stretch-led by Archbold's perfect 10-for-10 performance from the stripe.

Justin Miller grabbed 10 rebounds tying a career high and Mark Price added 14 points for the victors

The Saints return to action on Tuesday evening against Hartford. The game is part of a men's/women's doubleheader that tips off at 6 p.m.
