LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Greg Chevalier scored off a free kick with just under five minutes remaining to lift Albany over Siena 2-1 Tuesday afternoon.
Albany (3-2) dominated the first half but was unable to score until early in the second half when Lucas Machado took advantage of a Siena turnover and broke in uncontested to beat Saints goalie Ryan Jordan.
The Saints (1-4-1) responded quickly. Vinny Russo (Staten Island, N.Y./Marymount International) lofted a ball into the box that Paul Ciovacco (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) headed home for his first goal of the season.
Albany outshot Siena 15-8. Danes goalie Trevor Serraro made two saves in the victory while Jordan (Monroe, N.Y./Manhattan College) stopped six shots in defeat.
Siena hosts Fairfield on October 3rd in a MAAC matchup.
