BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Daniel Wolpert exploded for five goals and three assists and fellow sophomore Tom Nally scored four goals to lead Siena past Binghamton 14-6 in the Saints' season opener.
Siena led 7-4 at the half but pulled away in the second half. Siena outshot Binghamton 27-24 and won 12 of 17 faceoffs. Freshman Chris Padden added two goals in his first collegiate game as six different Saints found the back of the net. Rob Pumilia got the start in goal for the Saints and made 11 saves.
Siena, which finished last season 1-13, goes for two straight wins on Wednesday when the Saints visit Colgate.
