The Siena Men lost each of their three matches over the weekend to finish eighth in the MAAC Tennis Championships held at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. The men lost to Manhattan 6-1, Iona 4-1 and Loyola 5-1.

In the first round, the sixth seeded Saints played the third seeded Jaspers and were ousted in all but one match. Senior Brian Connor notched the lone tally for the Saints at fifth singles (2-3, Retired). The Saints moved on to play the Gaels of Iona in the consolation semi-final round.

In a competitive match, Iona held off several Siena rallies to post the 4-1 win. In doubles action, the # 2 team of John Michalisin and Brian Connor won 8-5 in a tough match. The other victory came in the second singles where Michalisin continued his solid play with a straight set victory (6-2, 7-5). The Saints lost two matches due to the suspension of the match in interest of time.

The final match of the weekend for Siena was in the seventh place game with Loyola. Michalisin again notched the only Siena victory, 6-1 and 6-0 at second singles. Senior Brian Tierney dropped a heartbreaker in overtime at third singles as did Eric Reuter.
