Marist Knocks Off Men's Soccer in Quarterfinals

The Siena College men's soccer team was defeated by Marist College, 3-0, today in the quarterfinal round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Championships in Orlando, Fla. With the loss, the Saints' season has come to an end with a 6-12-1 overall mark. Marist will advance to the semifinal round where they will face defending champion Loyola.

Fifth seeded Marist scored two goals in the first period, while holding fourth seeded Siena scoreless to take a 2-0 advantage into halftime. The Red Foxes netted their first goal at the 22:49 as Ben Castor headed in a pass from Keith Detelj. Detelj added another tally some 18 minutes later on a break away goal.

David Musinski secured the victory by netting a penalty kick at 74:15. The Red Foxes outshot the Saints 18-3.

Siena keeper Patrick Henry registered six saves for the Saints while Marist net minder made eight saves.
