The Air Force lacrosse team defeated Siena College, 8-6, in a snowy Saturday game on the Air Force turf field. With the loss, the Saints start out the 2003 season 0-1. The Falcons improved to 1-2 this season in one of the team's three remaining home games.
Air Force began the first period with two goals from junior Greg Dangler. Siena answered with 3:38 left in the first, followed by a late Falcon goal from junior Dave Brown to give Air Force a 3-1 lead after the first.
The Falcons opened up the second period with a goal form freshman John Smith at the 14:39 mark. Siena answered with two goals within three minutes to bring the score to 4-3. Senior Eric Lederer and sophomore John French each scored to bring the Falcons out to a 6-3 lead just before another Siena goal with 5:13 left in the half.
The Saints scored the first goal of the second half at the 12:50 mark. Senior Kyle Warf answered with the only goal of the third period for Air Force to bring the score to 7-5. Lederer netted the final Falcon goal of the game with 10:10 left in the fourth, followed by a Siena goal for the Air Force win over the Saints, 8-6.
Siena returns to action on Monday, March 3 when they face Denver.
