Box Score

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Prosper Karangwa scored on a running one-hander with four-tenths of a second remaining to lift Siena over Marist 70-68 Saturday night in the second round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament.

Karangwa took the inbounds pass at midcourt, dribbled behind his back into the lane and sank an eight-foot shot to send Siena, the No. 3 seed, into the MAAC semifinals Sunday against No. 2 seed Fairfield.

Marist's Dennis Young had tied the game with a 3-pointer with six seconds left. Young, a 6-foot-8 center, had attempted four 3-pointers all season and made one before Saturday.

Tommy Mitchell scored 17 points to lead Siena (19-9), which won its sixth straight game. Carl Hood scored 18 points and Nick Eppehimer had 17 for Marist (13-16)

Siena led 66-59 with 1:26 remaining on two free throws by Antoine Jordan. Young then scored on a short jumper, and after another free throw by Jordan, David Bennett made two free throws and scored on a driving layup to pull the Red Foxes within a basket. Mitchell then made one of two free throws for Siena with :24 left to make the score 68-65 and set up Young's shot.

Marist led by four points early in the second half before an 11-0 run by Siena gave the Saints the lead for good at 48-41. Marist got within a point at 60-59 on Brandon Ellerbee's bank shot with 2:43 left, before Karangwa rebounded a miss and scored, and Mitchell and Jordan each sank two free throws to push the lead to 66-59.
