BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Michael Haddix scored 23 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lift Siena to a 63-59 win over Canisius Sunday afternoon.
A 3-pointer by David Ryan followed by a three point play from Tommy Mitchell allowed Siena (7-11, 4-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) to take the lead for good, 57-52, with 5:09 remaining.
The Saints hit five of six free throws in the game's final 30 seconds to seal the win.
Dewitt Doss missed a 3-pointer for Canisius (7-12, 2-6 MAAC) with 16 seconds left that could have tied the game.
Antoine Jordan added nine points for Siena.
The Saints, who entered the game as the nation's sixth best rebounding team, outrebounded Canisius 46-37 and had 24 second chance points.
Kevin Downey had 14 points for Canisius. Toby Foster eclipsed both the 1,000-point and 500-rebound mark for his career, scoring 13 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.
