1. Subcommittee provided updates.
a. Academic Integrity - L. Putnick Len shared the committee's graduation notes for all sports and by sport. The years '98, '99,'00 were selected because these were the beginnings of BANNER software years. Some preliminary trends as evidenced in the data: women athletes graduate at higher rates; African American athletes do not fair well in the graduation rates; and baseball is a sport that does not have a high graduation rate. While the committee has not drawn any conclusions, it may be important to look at men's sports and support services to this group to ensure success. It was mentioned that a comparison of the athlete graduation rates to Siena graduation rate as well as national graduation rate would be interesting. The committee's greatest challenge will be to look at the possible reason's for lower graduation raes in certain sports.
b. Rules / Governance - J. Eggleston (for P. Dwyer) Joyce indicated that the Rules/Governance committee has met twice. They are still gathering data and have not begun their review of the information. There will be some sensitive and confidential materials which will need to be secured in the "materials" room during the site visit.
c. Welfare, Equity, Sportsmanship - N. Jones Ned indicated that his committee has been meeting and gathered data to be looked at. The subcommittee is in the process of reporting their findings, raising questions, and identifying issues. They will meet and begin to think of preliminary recommendations.
