Saints Slip Past Iona, 61-60

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) - Jamal Jackson's free throw with 6.6 seconds left gave Siena a 61-60 victory over Iona on Saturday.

Michael Haddix, who led Siena (8-14, 5-8 MAAC) with 20 points, scored with 1:02 remaining to tie it at 60. Jackson then went to the foul line and made the second of two attempts.

Mike Beers added 12 points, all on 3-pointers, and Justin Miller had 11 for the Saints, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Greg Jenkins scored 16 points and DeShaun Williams 12 for the Gaels (7-14, 5-7), who failed to get off a final shot at the end of the game.

The Saints, who trailed by as much as 21-7 early, led 32-31 at halftime.

Iona took the lead for the first time in the second half at 51-50 on a three-point play by Jenkins with 8:49 remaining, then led by as much as 56-50 after Williams' basket capped a 12-0 run with 6:59 left.

Jackson had nine points, and Antoine Jordan seven for Siena.

Ricky Soliver, Anthony Bruin and Kiril Wachsman each had eight points for the Gaels.
