Vermont senior Ronan Keegan scored the first goal within three minutes of play off an assist from Tony Anderson to lead the Catamounts to a 2-0 victory over Siena Wednesday afternoon. The loss sends the Saints to 0-5-1. Vermont improves to 5-3-1
Sophomore midfielder Michael Battiste led the Saints with two shots, one on goal. Siena fought hard in the second half and out-shot the Catamounts 3-2 in the half.
Early in the second half Vermont scored off on an own-goal. Midfielder Patrick Wyld split the Saints defense and the ball deflected just past Saints keeper Patrick Henry. Siena got a strong performance from Henry, who had two saves, but the Saints defense allowed the Catamounts too many chances. The Saints led in shots 9-5 with three on goal and corners 8-2.
Siena will continue home play next Wednesday as they take on Army at 3 pm.
