Women's Basketball Hosting Happy Noon Year Celebration

Dec. 27, 2005

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The women's basketball team is hosting a first of its kind "Happy Noon Year" party prior to its New Year's Eve matinee game against George Mason. Doors will open at 11 a.m. for parents and children to partake in the pre-game festivities and be invited as special guests of the team to attend the game immediately following the party.

For a discounted rate of $2 for kids and $5 for parents, fans will be entertained with music, decorations, noise makers and sparkling punch. As the clock reaches noon, head coach Gina Castelli will give a toast. As the clock strikes 12, balloons will drop and cake will be served as the first "Noon Year" is rung in at Siena College. The entire women's basketball team and coaching staff will partake in the pre-game fun.

"This is a great way for children to celebrate New Year's when they otherwise might not be awake for the real ball dropping," said marketing manager Camelia Trahan. "We are always looking for ways to have fun and this allows kids have fun in the day and celebrate the "Noon Year" at Siena and afterwards enjoy a basketball game."
