Final Stats
Loudonville, N.Y. - Men's soccer fell at the hands of Army this evening in West Point, N.Y. Five different players posted goals for the Black Knights in a 5-2 victory over the Saints. Siena registered goals from junior Thomas Ciovacco (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) and midfielder Kris Dillmann (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./John Jay).
The Black Knights got on the board early. In the first half, forward Garrett Dresel served junior Chris Conklin who sent a chip shot over the sliding Patrick Henry (LaGrangeville, N.Y./Arlington). Henry tallied five saves in 73 minutes in net.
The Saints battled back in the second half when Ciovacco posted his second goal of the season in the 46th minute. Ciovacco took a cross pass from midfielder Liam Welsh (West Town, N.Y./Minisink Valley) and fired it past goaltender John-Micha Gallogly to even the score at 1-1.
The Black Knights answered back going on a three goal rampage in just over 18 minutes. At 51:54, Dresel placed a penalty kick past Henry to retake the lead. Minutes later, forward John Kubeika settled a cross from senior John Borland and placed it in the back of the net. In the 70th minute, freshman Dietz Cole added another goal to put Army up 4-1.
Dillmann responded, in the 81st minute, when he placed an off direct kick into the back of the net to cut the lead to two.
Army fired back adding another goal in the 86th minute. Midfielder Andrew Kydes blasted a shot that was deflected into the goal putting the game out of reach.
The Saints fall to 2-10-1. Friday, they look to rebound on the road at Loyola in a 5 p.m. start. Siena travels to Rider on Sunday for a league match-up beginning at 2 p.m. Army improves to 4-8-1 on the year. They travel to Worcester, Mass. on Saturday to face Holy Cross at 7 p.m.
