Final Stats

Loudonville, N.Y. - Men's soccer fell to Saint Peter's 2-1 this afternoon at Siena Field. The Peacocks jumped out to a quick lead when forward Murphy Wiredu placed one in the back of the net at 4:08. In the 67th minute, Siena midfielder Kris Dillmann (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./John Jay) evened the score blasting one past goaltender Matthew Lawlor. Minutes later, junior Juan Gaviria notched the game winner off a feed from midfielder Victor Prada at 75:48.

Minutes into the game, Saint Peter's struck first when Wiredu took a pass on the left side from sophomore Chris DeAbreu and placed it past senior Patrick Henry (LaGrangeville, N.Y./Arlington). Saint Peter's took a 1-0 lead into the half.

The Saints rallied back in the second half when forward Thomas Ciovacco (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) served Dillmann on the left side, blasting it past the diving Lawlor to bring the contest to a 1-1 tie.

Saint Peter's tallied the game winner in the 76th minute. Prada served Gaviria on the left side, sending a header cross goal past the diving Henry. Just under eight minutes left in regulation, the Saints had an opportunity to tie the score again. Sophomore Ross Cardinell (Loudonville, N.Y./Shaker) launched a shot just outside of the box placing it just inches high of the goal.

Both teams registered 22 shots on the game. Henry made big saves in net for the Saints; he tallied five on the game. Lawlor registered nine saves in goal for the Peacocks.

Siena travels to West Point, N.Y. to face Army on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. On Friday, the Saints travel to Loyola for a 3:00 p.m. start.
