Results Pinehurst, N.C. - Siena College placed second among eight teams Sunday with a 36-hole score of 611 (312-299) in men's golf at the Iona Invitational played in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
Junior Denis Gosier fell one shot (150) short of Longwood freshman Allain Blanchard who fired a final round of one-under par 71 for a two-day total of 149 (78-71) to earn tournament medalist honors. Tournament host Iona won the event with a score of 609 (316-293) at the 7,149-yard, par 72 Country Club of Whispering Pines.
In the field of 47 golfers, Gosier was followed by junior Bryan Bigley (82-72-154), senior Robby Bigley (78-77-155), junior Alex Arrigo (77-79-156) and freshman Daniel Abbondandolo (82-75-157). The Saints "B" pool was led by junior Allen Parker who finished (78-77-155).
First day leader Longwood and Iona exchanged places on the board, after the Lancers fell 10 shots from the title. The Saints took possession of second place after Bryan Bigley carded a team low 72 on the day.
Siena will play again March 24-26 at the George Washington Invitational in Bethany Beach, Delaware.
