Junior standout Nadiege Honore had 20 kills, nine digs and four aces leading Siena past regional rival New Hampshire 3-1 in Syracuse Saturday afternoon. The Saints lost their first match of the day, 3-0, to Kentucky.
Honore followed up a 12-kill effort against Kentucky with her top performance of the season in Siena's win. The Preseason MAAC Player of the Year killed 30% of her attacks and added two solo blocks, accounting for 26 of the team's 118 points.
Sophomore setter April London also distributed the ball to the middle, where freshman Burgandy McCurty efficiently killed 11 of her 18 attacks (.556). Sophomore Kelly Hummel added a season-high 10 kills from the right side.
London registered 47 assists and 10 digs against UNH.
The Saints won the first two games 30-26 and 30-27 before dropping the third 30-28. Siena rallied for a convincing 30-20 win in the decisive fourth game.
Kentucky coasted to a 30-19, 30-22 and 30-22 victory in a 10 a.m. match. Honore led all players with 12 kills, but the Saints posted a -.029 team attack percentage.
Ashlee Fisher led the Wildctas with 11 kills. Jenni Casper had a match-high 16 digs.
Siena, now 1-5 on the season, returns to action at Stony Brook Friday night.
