LEXINGTON, KY – The Siena Volleyball program was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for achieving outstanding excellence in the classroom.
 
The Saints earned the distinction for the seventh time in their program history by maintaining a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale).
 
There were 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball teams who earned the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award.
 
"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon.
 
"We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."
 
The Saints have five student athletes who achieved a 4.0 GPA in the 2026 spring semester, including Gabrielle Wire, Maggie Seymour, Brooke Malek, and the recently graduated Alandra Hasbrouck and Elizabeth Phillips.
 
Other top Siena student athletes were Mary Claire Deacy (3.94 GPA), Oliwia Majtyka (3.80), Amelia Robertson (3.72), Jill Frye (3.68), Alara Doganyuz (3.56), and Doga Diraz (3.51).
 
Siena also achieved this team distinction in 2024, 2022, 2021, 2020, 1997, and 1993.
