Final Stats
Loudonville, N.Y. - Men's soccer falls to the Stags 3-1 in league action this evening in Fairfield, Conn. Consecutive Fairfield goals by Mike Troy, Sam Bailey and Paul McQuade proved to be enough to top the Saints.
The Stags broke out of the gate early when senior Mike Troy tallied his first goal of the year at the 8:37 mark. Later in the first half, forward Sam Bailey added a second goal that was delivered off a feed from sophomore Mike Lentine in the 35th minute. Paul McQuade notched the final goal at 56:36 when he placed a shot past goaltender Patrick Henry (LaGrangeville, N.Y./Arlington). Henry posted five saves in the contest.
The Saints struggled in the offensive end and registered 23 fouls on the game. Freshman Robert DiFilippo (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) posted his first goal of his career in the final minute of action.
Goaltender Jon Paul Francini added six saves for the Stags in the winning effort. Francini improves to 4-2-1 on the season.
Siena (1-7-1/0-1-0) travels to New Rochelle, N.Y. on Sunday for a conference match-up with Iona at noon. The Saints return home on Friday to face Manhattan in a 3:00 p.m. start.
