Loudonville, N.Y. - Saint Peter's posted three first half goals cruising to a 3-0 victory over the Siena (5-9-4, 2-5-2) men's soccer team this afternoon in Jersey City. Peacocks senior Juan Gaviria notched the game winning goal in the 4th minute helping Saint Peter's (13-4-1, 6-2-1) get past the Saints. Siena will enter the 2007 MAAC Championships in Orlando, Fla. as the #8 seed.
The Peacocks struck first with 3:19 on the clock when Victor Prada found Gaviria open in the box who connected on the first goal of the contest. Gaviria finished with three points on the afternoon.
Ten minutes later, teammate Murphy Wiredu posted his first of two goals. Wiredu got open in the box and finished on the play. He added his second score at the 32:45 mark to give Saint Peter's a 3-0 advantage to take into intermission.
Peacocks goalkeepers Carl Braverman and Hernando Santamaria helped keep the Saints scoreless through the remainder of the contest to secure the combined shutout. Siena goalkeeper Kyle Christiansen posted a game-high six saves over 90 minutes of work between the pipes.
Siena returns to action on November 14 for the opening round of the MAAC Championships at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. The Saints will take on the #9 seed Rider (7-9-2, 2-5-2) at 2 p.m.
